Adoxophyes Meyrick, 1881
This genus of tortrix moths contains around 50 species. They are widespread in Asia and the Pacific. Some species are also found in other regions. Several species are important leafroller pests that attack crops like fruit trees and tea, among others. Economically important is Adoxophyes orana infesting fruit trees in temperate regions of Asia and in Europe, as well as Adoxophyes honmai infesting mainly tea in eastern Asia.
There are typically several generations per year with the larvae of the last generation overwintering. The adults have broad forewings, often brownish with dark brown markings. The forewing length is usually around 7-10 mm. Taxonomically, the genus is characterized by the shape and venation of the forewings and the structure of the genitalia.
