Meloidogyne naasi Franklin, 1965 - (barley root-knot nematode)

This nematode is widely distributed in temperate regions. It infests cereals, grasses and root crops like sugarbeet or carrots. The infestations cause root galling and can result in a reduction of the growth of the host plant up to necrosis. In cereals, yield reductions have been mainly reported from barley.

The galls of M. naasi are usually cylindrical or spindle-shaped. The length of 2nd stage juveniles is around 450 µm and the stylet about 14 µm (dos Santos et al., 2020).
