Amphimallon Berthold, 1827

This genus includes around 60 species of cockchafer-like beetles. Their native distribution ranges from Europe and northern Africa to temperate parts of Asia. Amphimallon majale is invasive in North America and a pest of turf. The larvae (white grubs) live in the soil, feeding on small roots. The adults are typically around 15 mm long.
