Harpalus affinis (predator) (Schrank, 1781)

This ground beetle is native to Europe and temperate parts of Asia. It has been also introduced into North America and New Zealand. H. affinis is polyphagous, feeding on various insects as well as on weed seeds. The adults are around 1 cm long, with a dark greenish or blueish metallic colouration.
