Anthrenus museorum (Linnaeus, 1761) - (museum beetle)
This carpet beetle is common in Europe, as well as in parts of North America and temperate parts of Australia. Together with Anthrenus verbasci, it can be very destructive in museum collections, destroying dried specimens of insects and other animals. It can be also a household pest, attacking materials like furs. For management options see Querner (2015).
Adults visit flowers and feed on pollen and nectar. The adults are 2½ to 3 mm long, round, with a black colour, and covered with black, yellowish and white scales. The general appearance is mostly black. The larvae are hairy.
