Dichelops furcatus (Fabricius 1775)
This green-belly stink bug occurs in South and Central America. It has been rare before the 1980s, but since then has become a serious pest of wheat, sunflower and maize. Other crops attacked include soybean and oat. Seedlings may be damaged or the developing seed heads of cereals are attacked during the booting and/or milk-grain stages, resulting in discolored seed heads, undeveloped and malformed grains and a reduction of grain yield. On soybean, the main damage occurs during the pod-filling stage. For a brief summary of the damage see Panizzi et al. (2018).
