Zetzellia mali (predator) (Ewing, 1917)

This predatory mite is common in orchards of North America, Europe and Asia, where it preys mainly on spider mites. It may also feed on pollen. Z. mali is regarded as an important biological control agent, but can be susceptible to pesticides. There are several generations per year and populations can build up rapidly if suitable prey is available. The mites typically have an orange colour and are around ½ mm long.
