First report of powdery mildew caused by an Oidium sp. on Torenia fournieri

Abstract: Ornamental Torenia fournieri (wishbone flower, bluewings) plants grown in Louisiana, U.S.A. were observed with symptoms of powdery mildew, including leaf distortion and yellowing. A fungus of the genus Oidium sp. was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation.
