Anaphothrips obscurus (Müller 1776) - (American grass thrips)
This thrips is widely distributed in temperate and subtropical regions. The adults and larvae live within the leaf sheaths of grasses and cereals and can cause significant damage. For example, young maize plants may be attacked and more than 10% seed yield reduction has been reported for bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera).
