Scolytus amygdali De Geer 1775 - (small almond-tree borer)

This bark beetle attacks the trunks and branches of stone and pome fruits in southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. Outbreaks may develop and management actions might become necessary. These include treatments with pesticides or removal and burning of infested branches and trunks. S. amygdali belongs to the subgenus Ruguloscolytus which is sometimes regarded as a separate genus.
