This psyllid is widespread in Europe where it infests apple trees during the summer. Its main economic significance is its ability to transmits the apple proliferation phytoplasma (Candidatus Phytoplasma mali). The phytoplasma is transmitted in a persistent and propagative manner and can even be passed on through the eggs to the next generation of psyllids.
