Cacopsylla pyricola (Förster, 1848)

This psyllid is a pest of pears in Europe and has spread to North America in 1832. It can result in economic losses of pear fruits, e.g. through sooty molds on the fruits. Further, it is a vector of the pear decline, a phytoplasma disease caused by Candidatus Phytoplasma pyri. Like the related species, Cacopsylla pyri, it is called 'pear psylla' or 'pear psyllid'. Both species have a similar biology.

Synonyms:
Psylla pyricola

Vernacular names
• Deutsch: Gelber Birnblattsauger
Gefleckter Birnblattsauger
• English: pear psylla
• Français: psylle du poirier
