This is a common and large genus of wolf spiders with more than 500 species. A number of species are important predators of pests like ''[[Pardosa pseudoannulata (predator)|Pardosa pseudoannulata]]'' in Asia or ''[[Pardosa milvina (predator)|Pardosa milvina]]'' in North America.  

The species of ''Pardosa'' have long legs with spines on the tarsi, the first row of 4 eyes is shorter than the next row of 2 eyes (measured up to the edges of the eyes). The carapace is elongated and usually has a pale median stripe.
