Typhlodromus transvaalensis (predator) (Nesbitt, 1951)

This predatory mite is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical countries. It was first described from Transvaal (South Africa) and has been found associated with various phytophagous mites and small insects on plants and in other environments. Eriophyid mites like Eriophyes olivi appear to be the most suitable prey for this species, while a diet of spider mites (Tetranychus urticae) was found to be unsuitable by Momen & Hussein (1999).
