[Fumigant effect of acetone to bean weevil {Acanthoscelides obtectus Say (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)} adults]
Turkish Journal of Entomology 33 (1), 23-30
Abstract: In order to determine the fumigant effect of acetone to bean weevil [Acanthoscelides obtectus Say (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)] adults, six doses (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 µl/l air), three evaporation times (0, 20 and 40 sec) and three exposure times (24, 48 and 72 h) were investigated in condition of 28 ± 2°C and % 65 ± 5 Relative Humidity The fumigant toxicity of acetone was decreased by the length of evaporation period. The highest mortality rates were observed after the 0-sec evaporation time. The mortality rates increased with increasing exposure period, however the rates at the 72-h exposure period were close to those at the 48-h exposure period. A mortality of 100 % was first achieved with the dose of 40 µl/l air in 48-h and at an evaporation period of 0 sec.
