[Investigations on population changes and damage of the olive moth (Prays oleae Bern.) (Lepidoptera: Yponomeutidae) in Mut District (Turkey)]
Turkish Journal of Entomology 29 (2), 125-134
Abstract: This research was conducted in nine olive orchards from three villages during 2001-2002 in the Mut District of Mersin province in where pesticide application is nearly absent. Population change of adult, infestation ratio and injury level in the leaf, flower and fruit generations of Prays oleae Bern. were determined in the olive orchards.
By using pheromone traps, it was observed that adult population of P. oleae was the highest during the second generation and lower in the third generation in 2002. Although the ratio of the olive fruits having larva entrance holes was high (60 %), the fruits with larva exit holes was interestingly very low (14 %). Yield loss due to the olive moth was 3,2-5,4 %.
