Tiphia pygidialis (parasitoid) Allen, 1966
This wasp is native to North America, where it is a solitary ectoparasitoid of masked chafers (Cyclocephala species). Mainly third instar white grubs are used as hosts. The female stings the grub paralysing it and lays an egg on the dorsal side of the thorax. The rate of parasitism has ranged from 2 to 33% during several surveys in Kentucky (Rogers & Potter, 2004).
