Thaumatotibia batrachopa (Meyrick, 1908) - (macadamia nutborer)

This moth breeds in fruits and nuts in Africa, including macadamia nuts, guava, coffee and citrus. However, it is most commonly found on macadamia and is also of quarantine concern (Timm et al., 2006). Like in other Thaumatotibia species, eggs are laid on the young fruits and the emerging larvae bore into and develop inside the growing fruits.
