Tomato aspermy virus (TAV)
This virus has been reported as infecting ornamentals and vegetables in Europe, Asia, North America and some other regions. It is common in chrysanthemums, where infections result in stunting, flower-breaking, yellow mosaic, green vein-banding and deformations. Ornamental often become unmarketable or have a reduced value.
TAV is transmitted by sap or by aphids in a non-persistent manner. The particles are isometric with a diameter of about 30 nm diameter. They encapsidate three single-stranded, positive sensed RNA molecules (RNA-1, RNA-2, RNA-3).
