Strelkovimermis spiculatus (entomopathogen) Poinar & Camino, 1986

This nematode infects various mosquito species. It can cause epizootics and up to 80% infection rates among larvae have been reported from some mosquito populations. The young nematode initially enters a mosquito larva, but development rate depends on the mosquito species and the nematode can be carried over to the pupal and adult mosquito stages.

In some mosquito species, maturation of the nematode is only completed in the host adult, whereas in other species it may be completed in the larval stage. In some mosquito populations high infection rates have been also reported from adult mosquitoes.
