Liriomyza chinensis (Kato, 1949) - (stone leek leafminer)
This leafminer fly is found in eastern Asia. There are also some records from Europe (e.g. Martinez, 1982). It attacks leek and other Allium crops and can cause significant damage. The adults puncture the leaves for feeding and the larvae mine and develop inside the young leaves. Research is mainly directed at developing resistant cultivars (Fujito et al., 2021).
