Steinernema monticolum Stock, Choo & Kaya, 1997 - nematode
Xenorhabdus hominickii Tailliez et al. 2006 - symbiotic bacterium

Steinernema monticolum is similar to Steinernema carpocapsae, but can be identified by the location of the excretory pore (Univ. of Florida). It has been originally isolated from the soil of a mountain forest in Korea, is adapted to cool temperatures, and infects Lepidoptera larvae, as well as other insect groups (Koppenhöfer et al., 2000).

Xenorhabdus hominickii has been named for W.M. Hominick, who studied the systematics of entomopathogenic nematode and their associated bacteria. The type strain is KE01T (=CIP 109072T=DSM 17903T).
