Spilonota ocellana (Denis & Schiffermüller) - (apple bud moth)

This moth is common in Europe, northern Asia and temperate parts of North America. The adults lay eggs on the leaves of apple or other Rosaceae. The hatching larvae feed on the leaves and overwinter in webbing on the bark. In spring, they attack the emerging buds, causing the most significant damage in terms of killed buds and flowers.
