Comparison of microscope slide-mounting media for preparation of fungus gnats (Diptera: Mycetophilidae)
Southwestern Entomologist 44 (2), 509-517
Abstract: Nine microscope slide-mounting media were compared to determine which types were best, worst, and of intermediate value for the preparation of fungus gnats for microscope examination. The best were Euparal, Carolina Canada balsam, and fingernail polish. The worst were Eukitt and PVA. Those of intermediate value were Benz synthetic Canada balsam, Rublev Canada balsam, and Kleermount. One slide was made using Hoyer's slide-mounting medium.
