Sipha Passerini, 1860

This genus of aphids contains around 10 species, several of which are invasive outside their native range. Pest species have been mainly reported from North America and Europe and infests gramineous crops like cereals, grasses and sugarcane. Sipha flava and Sipha maydis are the most important pests. Species of the genus Sipha can be distinguished by the oval or pear-shaped body that is dorsally flattened and has dorsal hairs/bristles with pointed apices.
