Abstract: Effects of combining entomopathogenic nematode (EPNs) and nematode-trapping fungus Arthrobotrys conoides to control root- knot nematode were studied in the banana orchard. Field experiments were conducted in banana orchard to study the effects of EPNs (Heterorhabditis bacteriophora) alone and combined with the fungus on reproduction of Meloidogyne incognita affecting the banana plants. The mortality percents were higher in combination of EPNs and trapping fungus than either by trapping fungus or EPNs alone. The order of highest percentage mortality of combined EPNs and trapping fungus on juveniles, root galls and egg-masses of M. incognita in banana orchard, were in treatment of combined EPNs and A. conoides (several applications), followed by treatment of combined EPNs and A. conoides (once only); the least effective was with treatment of EPNs alone. The highest banana yield was recorded in treatments of combined EPNs and A. comcaides compared to the separated treatments and control. Thus, we recommend the farmers to use combination of EPNs and trapping fungus for increasing the mortality of M. incognita in the banana orchard.
