Rhyacionia frustrana (Comstock) - (Nantucket pine tip moth)
This small moth is a serious pest of loblolly pine in the United States (especially in the South-East) which kills the growing shoots. The young larvae mine the needles, older larvae feed on stems and buds. The results of infestations include stunting, irregular growth of the trees and in some case death of the tree.
