Le specie del genere Pityokteines Fuchs in Italia: Chiave identificativa e bionomia (Coleoptera Scolytidae)
[The European fir engraver beetles: bionomics in Italy and key to the species]
REDIA 85, 229-256
Abstract: The silver fir (Abies alba Miller) is one of the most important forest tree in Europe due to its peculiar ecological and productive features. Since the beginning of the eighties, the Department of Forest Entomology of the Experimental Institute for Agricultural Zoology in Florence, carried out research on the insect fauna of the silver fir in Italy and many papers were published on this subject.
In this work the authors report on the results of faunistic and bio-ecological researches on the silver fir engraver beetles collected from Apennine mountains, with special reference to Pityokteines spinidens (Reitter) which was recorded recently for the first time from Southern Italy.
A key to the species of Pityokteines and legends are reported in both Italian and English language.
