Pycnoscelus surinamensis (Linnaeus, 1758) - (Suriname cockroach)

This cockroach is a tropical and subtropical species native to the Indo‐Malaysian region. It has been accidentally introduced into other regions like parts of the Americas and Africa. In temperate regions it can become establish in greenhouses.

P. surinamensis feeds on plants including the roots. Damage to crops can be significant. It also invades houses. It hides during the day, often burrowing into the soil, and emerges during the night. In invaded populations it typically reproduces parthenogenetically.
