Psyllaephagus bliteus (parasitoid) Riek, 1962

This wasp is an important parasitoid of the red gum lerp psyllid, Glycaspis brimblecombei, an invasive pest of eucalypt trees in many regions. It has been deliberately introduced into North- and Central America, e.g. it has been released in California from 1998 to 2003. Further it was introduced accidentally into several other regions like South America or the Mediterranean region. Parasitisation rates of more than 50% have been recorded in some areas and the psyllid pest has been brought under control by this wasp in many areas.
