Porotermes adamsoni (Froggatt)

This termite is found in south-eastern Australia where it infests living trees, often destroying them. Eucalypts, pines and other types of trees are attacked. The species is considered a quarantine risk that might spread with the timber trade. It has been detected sporadically in New Zealand since the 1930s and as recently as 2007-2010. Infestations detected have been eradicated.
