Occurrence of Pseudomonas mediterranea on tomato in Brazil
Plant Pathology 59 (4), 797-797
Abstract: During 2005-2008, tomato plants grown in the State of São Paulo, Brazil were observed with symptoms of external dark brown necrosis of stems and degradation of pith, often near wounds where side-shoots had been removed. The bacterium Pseudomonas mediterranea was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on the nutritional profile and PCR analysis of the isolates. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation.
