First report of 16SrII `Candidatus Phytoplasma aurantifolia' infecting chilli and tamarillo in Indonesia
Plant Pathology 58 (4), 791-791
Abstract: During 2007, chilli pepper (Capsicum spp.) and tamarillo (Solanum [Cyphomandra] betaceum) plants grown in Sumatra, Indonesia were observed with symptoms of stunting, severe leaf mottling and bunching of small mottled leaves. The presence of a phytoplasma was demonstrated with PCR analysis using a 16S ribosomal gene primer. The PCR product was cloned and sequenced. Sequence analysis showed 99% identity to members of the group 16SrII, `Candidatus Phytoplasma aurantifolia'.
