Tomato yellow leaf distortion virus, a new bipartite begomovirus infecting tomato in Cuba
Plant Pathology 58 (4), 785-785
Abstract: During 2007, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plants grown in Cuba were observed with symptoms of yellow mottle and leaf distortion. The presence of an unknown bipartite begomovirus was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants using PCR analysis and nucleotide sequencing. The sequence of DNA-A showed less than 89% nucleotide sequence identity to previously reported begomoviruses. The highest identity (83.9%) was with Wissadula golden mosaic St Thomas virus. The name Tomato yellow leaf distortion virus (ToYLDV) is proposed for this virus.
