Abstract: Shallot, Allium cepa var aggregatum, plants grown in India were observed with symptoms of mild mosaic and chlorosis. The presence of Shallot virus X was demonstrated in the symptomatic plants using specific antisera, electron microscopy, PCR analysis and nucleotide sequencing.
