First report of plumeria rust disease caused by Coleosporium plumeriae in Taiwan
Plant Pathology 55 (2), 306-306
Abstract: In 2003, uredinia and telia stages of a rust fungus were found on leaves of Plumeria rubra (frangipani), growing in 2 locations in Taiwan. The rust fungus produced orange to yellow spore sori in leaves and in severe infections caused early leaf abscision. The morphology of the uredinial and telial stages of the samples is identical to previous descriptions of Coleosporium plumeriae. Although Plumeria spp. was imported from South Asia more than two hundred years ago, there have been no reports of rust on these trees in Taiwan.
