Presence of Pantoea citrea, causal agent of pink disease, in pineapple fields in Mexico
Plant Pathology 55 (2), 294-294
Abstract: Pineapple fruits in Oaxaca and Veracruz states of Mexico were sampled in June 2003. Nine bacterial isolates recovered from the interior and identified as Pantoea spp. according to 16S rDNA restriction analysis. Bacterial identification tests conformed with the characteristics of P. citrea. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated in a hypersensitivity test. Pantoea citrea has not been previously reported from pineapple in Mexico.
