First report of leaf spot caused by Colletotrichum aenigma on Acer rubrum in China
Plant Disease 107 (4), 1240-1240
Abstract: Since 2019, Acer rubrum trees grown in Jiangsu Province, China were observed with leaf spot symptoms. The lesions initially appeared black, surrounding more than half of the petioles of A. rubrum, and gradually expanded toward the branches and along the veins of leaves. The fungus Colletotrichum aenigma was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
