First report of wheat common bunt caused by Tilletia laevis in Henan Province, China
Plant Disease 105 (1), 215-215
Abstract: During 2019, wheat grown in Henan Province was observed in three field with common bunt symptoms. The diseased wheat heads had bunt balls filled with black powder with a fishy smell. The disease incidence in these fields was 20 to 50%, but no common bunt was found in other nearby fields. The fungus Tilletia laevis was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation.
