First report of Orobanche laxissima parasitizing pomegranate (Punica granatum) in Georgia
Plant Disease 105 (5), 1572-1572
Abstract: During 2019, pomegranate plants (Punica granatum) grown in Georgia were observed with symptoms of infestations by the parasitic plant Orobanche laxissima on the roots. The infection was confirmed by verifying the attachment of the Orobanche to the Punica root. A single plant of pomegranate was parasitized by up to ~100 broomrape plants, and 10 to 20% of the ~1-ha location was infested. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis.
