First report of web blight on rose campion (Lychnis coronaria) caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG 1-IB in Italy
Plant Disease 99 (1), 162-162
Abstract: During 2014, rose campion plants Lychnis coronaria (now Silene coronaria) grown in Italy were observed with symptoms of pale brown discoloration of stems, starting from the base, and eventually collapsed. The fungus Rhizoctonia solani AG 1-IB was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics, DNA sequence analysis and pairing with tester strains. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation.
