Pirata subpiraticus (predator) (Bösenberg & Strand, 1906)

This species of wolf spider is an important predator of rice insects in Asia. It is often common in rice fields and feeds on planthoppers, leafhoppers and other rice pests. Like other wolf spiders, it does not construct webs and hunts by ambushing its prey. There are 3-4 generations per year.
