Phorodon humuli (Schrank, 1801) - (hop aphid)

The aphid is a serious pest of hop in Europe and in North America. The eggs are laid on Prunus species in the autumn and hatch in the spring. Several generations are produced on Prunus. In May alates are produced which migrate to hop fields.

Up to 10 generations may be produced per season on hop, especially under cool and wet conditions. Both wingless forms (with females giving birth to live nymphs) as well as winged forms are produced. In autumn the winged forms migrate again to Prunus where they lay the overwintering eggs.
