Pachygnatha degeeri (predator) Sundevall, 1830
This spider is wide spread in temperate regions of Europe and Asia. It is regarded as a useful predator of pest insects in cereal fields. It is also often found in meadows. For example, it has been recorded to feed on cereal aphids (Harwood et al., 2005).
The young spiders construct orb webs, while the adults hunt on the ground or on vegetation. The spiders have a body length of 4-5 mm and a dark brown or black prosoma. Females are larger than males. The abdomen has a variable colouration and pattern and may have greenish, yellowish or reddish marks.
