Nipaecoccus Sulc, 1945

This genus of mealybugs is widely distributed, especially in warmer regions. It contains more than 40 species. Several are important agricultural pests on fruit trees and other crops. For example, Nipaecoccus viridis is a pest of citrus in Asia, the Pacific and Africa.

The adult females often have a purple colour. Among other characters, the dorsal ostioles are usually reduced, the antennae have 7 segments and the legs are short.
