Metarhizium pingshaense (entomopathogen) Q.T. Chen & H.L. Guo 1986
This fungus has been originally described from China but has been recorded to naturally occur in other countries. For example, it has been reported from Mexico as infecting fruit fly larvae in the soil (Presa-Parra et al., 2020). In Burkina Faso M. pingshaense was found to naturally infect mosquitoes and some isolates were highly virulent against Anopheles adults, but were not pathogenic against honeybees and cockroaches (Bilgo et al., 2018). Apart from Diptera, other insect groups have been also reported as hosts.
