Megoura viciae Buckton, 1876 - (vetch aphid)
This aphid has plants of the genus Vicia as hosts and is common in Europe. It is a pest of broad beans and transmits several plant viruses (e.g. Milk vetch dwarf virus). The life cycle typically includes 3 generations of wingless forms, follow by the formation of winged adults which disperse in autumn and lay overwintering eggs.
The adults are large, up to 4 or 5 mm long, green, with black legs, antennae and siphunculi. There are also black crescents around the base of the siphunculi.
