Abstract: Five species of the ixodid ticks, Amblyomma testudinarium Koch, Dermacentor taiwanensis Sugimoto, Haemaphysalis formosensis Neumann, Haemaphysalis sp. T and Ixodes turdus Nakatsuji, were collected on vegetation or a wild boar in Tokunoshima Island of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, in December 1995. Of these, Ixodes turdus is a new record in the fauna of Tokunoshima Island.
