Macrosteles quadrilineatus Forbes (aster leafhopper)

This leafhopper is found in North America and is considered a pest of various crops, primarily because it transmits the aster yellows phytoplasma (Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris) and other phytoplasma diseases.

Synonyms
Macrosteles fascifrons (Stål, 1858) is often considered a synonym of M. quadrilineatus but is regarded by others as a separate species (see J. Nast, 1987 - Annales Zoologici Warszawa 40: 535-661)
