Macroglenes penetrans (parasitoid) (Kirby, 1800)
This wasp is found in Europe and North America. It is an egg-larval parasitoid of the wheat blossom midge (Sitodiplosis mosellana). The parasitoid larva develops and overwinters in the midge larva. The adult wasp emerges from the midge cocoon in spring. It is about 2 mm long, shiny bluish to greenish, and often metallic.
